As to Dave Edmunds comment about leaving it to the regional correspondents to report on wins and placings on the working side. When writing the S.W. news several years ago I mentioned Schutzhund. The secretary of the Severnside Club contacted me and said she would send through the results of their Trials for inclusion in the National Magazine. We decided to visit the event and the secretary gave me the marked up catalogue. Dave arrived at that moment and asked her if she had a spare catalogue. She said no she had given me the only one. Dave was most disgruntled and said he usually put in the results for the working side, so I handed over my catalogue to him. Since then, with the odd exception, I have left it to him to cover the working side.

I have had Ronnie Green chewing my ear off about not getting a mention as a fellow member of the Heads of the Valley Club, so for a quiet life: Ronnie Green and Ted Tolputt’s Videx Omar of Devat has been doing consistently well at Champ. Shows. At Norfolk 1st PGD Green & Tolputt’sVidex Omar at Devat. At North Yorks &South Durham 1st PGD Green & Tolputt’s Videx Omar at Devat. At the 2 day Show in N.I. 1st PGD Green & Tolputt’s Videx Omar at Devat. At GSDC of Kent 1st LD Green & Tolputt’s  Videx Omar at Devat. There, that should buy her silence for several training sessions.

We have not been to any shows this month, so thanks to the people who have kept me informed of the results of the shows for the South West news.

They are nice people to meet at shows as they show an interest in other people’s dogs besides their own. At a recent Champ. Show  I was keeping out of sight of our dog  and it was Andy who excitedly informed me, that the German judge had moved him up several places and he was now in the cards. Having heard recently about some more people who are giving up showing due to the spitefulness of others, it is good to know there are still some genuine people left in showing.

After all my moaning about not having any Champ. Parties in the area I have had to decline Pauline, John, Sharon, and David’s kind invitation to celebrate the champion status of Inge v Messina and Lararth Houdini, as I have another engagement. Out of twenty-nine entries I was commissioned along with three other writers, to write a treatment for A Play For Somerset. A panel of judges then decides which play they wish to develop first, and I have to attend an interview where they will tell us of their decision. After that we have in “luvvie” language a glass of  bubbly and the press in attendance. Which translated means one bottle of Asti Spumante between us and a reporter from the local paper, who also doubles as the photographer. I told Pauline if the “do” finishes early we’ll try and make it for last orders, as if the Sieger Show is anything to go by, Gsd enthusiasts, like their Gsds, have the stamina and endurance to discuss the breed into the early hours.
