In a lot of instances the KC only advise judges. They leave it to the integrity and gentlemanly conduct of the individual, allowing them to follow their own conscience. For instance, the KC consider that it is unacceptable to solicit for judging appointments and expect people not to do so. There is no rule or reg. that states that the judge may not look at the show catalogue, before or during judging.  It is not the ‘done thing’ to do so, they rely on the judges own ethics to prevent them from doing so.  The KC did not have a reg. about not judging one’s own stock, relying on the honesty of the judge, but such was the untrustworthiness of some, that they had to introduce one.

I did see an entry in Our Dogs under Club Notices stating Attention all Open Show Secretaries if your society requires a judges list for the GSD (Alsatian) breed please contact The GSD (Alsatian) Club of the United Kingdom. Giving the secretary’s name, address and e-mail. The SWGSDC judges list is promoted in this area, to be on this list apparently you have to apply for a form to fill in with your judging experience, and then they will consider your application. We used to belong to this club and sent our membership off at the beginning of each year, until we realised they never presented our cheque to the bank until after the AGM, so we were not officially members until after all the voting had been carried out.

At Southern Counties under judge Dave Middleton. 1st MPD&BPD Kessel & Brimacombe’s Conbhairean Ursus at Kesenburg. 4th JD Andrews & Rees Nikonis Arthur. 5th JD Jackson’s Silverleigh Zigi  at Parkrise. 2nd PGD Aldridge’s Edser Anton. 3rd OD Hensley, Hiscox & Vessey’s Zumander Bacchus. 5th OD Bowen & Julian’s Lararth Sonny. 2nd PGB Kessel & Brimacombe’s Conbhairean Nathalie at Kesenburg. 1st LB&RCC Sheffield’s Willowdale Kiefa.

The Aniwa website is a useful and interesting site for GSD enthusiasts. It featured Crufts, and had the results and photos of the poplar Bellheim Show, held the 13th April, on site a couple of days after the show.  Also little snippets like, “The dog of the day was the winner of the 18/24 dog class………Remo v Fichtenschlag.  This young dog catch the attention of the audience……Very expressive, medium size, very good angles in front and firm back, fast mover and a very typical head.”  “The show was also the place for the progeny of some stud dogs, like Irok Karanberg, Vegas du Haut Mansard,  Jumbo Di Zenevredo,  Furbo Degli Achei and the French Adel du Val d’Anzin (Erasmus). Only Furbo was there but not shown. A young brother of Vegas was around the rings Bravos du Haut Mansard!”  “The same day, Monday 13th of April, another show was running, in Mohlau, with a strong GKLR led by Yukon von der Bastille and Vanos van Noort (Vegas).”  I have heard that Franck Haymann of the Aniwa site is attending the Heads of the Valleys GSD Club Champ. Show on Sunday 19th of July.

Our sympathies go to Pam and Joyce at Moonwinds on hearing of the passing away of Salome vom Bierstadter Hof. A good producing female who included the German Siegerin Kora, and a U.K. Champion Dotty among her off-spring, as well as the Moonwinds ‘F’ litter by Cherry vom Bergmannshof that did well in the show ring.
