While waiting to judge at Horley and District there was another judge hanging about by the GSD ring. Being my usual inquisitive self I asked him which breed he was judging. He was judging three classes of BSD (Groenendael) and the Junior Handling Association qualifying classes 6-11yrs and 12-16yrs. He used to live in America, where he was a professional handler and handled GSDs. His name is Felix Cosme and he judged the GSDs at Bath Championship Show last year. We discussed the GSDs in this Country and begged to differ as his type was ‘middle of the road’. He mentioned the GSDs at the Westminster Dog Show in America and had we seen them? Jo Lewis e-mailed the news that Ji produced five bitches and three dogs from her mating to Qai.

We did not plan to go to West Yorks Show as Dennis was asked to judge the bitches. The GSDC of Wales was the same day so we e-mailed for a schedule from them, which never arrived. Then Dennis, like Brian, due to conflicting with another judging commitment was unable to judge at West Yorks. We downloaded a schedule and entered their show. We went to their Champ Show a couple of years ago and liked the venue and the atmosphere.

Dave Edmunds rang with the news that Millie,(Pepnick Half Penny) has qualified Cdex. It is good to know that her television appearance (well her tail end disappearing out of shot) has not gone to her head and she is still willing to work.

The South Western GSDC Open Show and 3 class limited obedience is on the 9^th April at Lackham Countryside Centre, Lacock, breed judge is Val Christopher. The South West W&PB Association Open Show is on the 6^th May at Hand Equestrian centre, Cleve\don. Entries close 15^th April. The judge is Carol Eastwood. I remember when Carol last judged at this show about ten years ago. Judging began in the outside ring, it rained so hard we had to retire inside for the rest of the classes. We were showing a puppy bitch and got a telling off from Larry Yates, who was handling her, for letting her get so wet.
